Pizza Roll


 

  • Sheet pan
  • Foil
  • Store-Bought Pizza dough (in the crescent roll-like tube)
  • Pepperoni (I used turkey pepperoni)
  • Mozzarella
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • clove of minced garlic
  • salt
  • pepper
  • Italian seasoning
  • basil
  • pizza sauce (under Eggplant Pizza recipe!)

      *preheat oven to 400 degrees and spray foil-line sheet pan with olive oil spray 

 

So this is a very simple and very versatile……dish, if you will. I used turkey pepperoni and mozzarella like a typical pizza in this version of the pizza roll but there are so many others you can do. Add green peppers and mushrooms to yours if that’s what you like! Or ham, salami and provolone. I think crumbled sausage, ricotta and spinach would be delicious too! Do what you like!

Now! The recipe! To start, use you fingers to spread out the pizza dough and transfer onto your baking sheet.

After it’s transferred, place your pepperoni (or ham or salami or whichever you choose) onto your dough!

Top it with mozzarella…

and the Italian seasoning…

Time to Roll! Slowly pick up the long side closest to you and rol the dough as tightly as possible.

Once you get to the end, pinch the edge of the dough to the pizza roll and seam it shut. Place the pizza roll seam side down.

Next, melt your butter in the microwave, add your minced garlic and give it a stir. Use a spoon to slowly pour over the pizza roll.

Add some salt, pepper and basil and pop it in the oven for 20 minutes.

When finished, let the pizza log cool for at least 10 minutes.

Once it is cooled, transfer to a cutting board and cut it into 6 pieces. You can cut them smaller if you’d like. It’s all up to you! Serve with warm pizza sauce for dipping!
